We can no longer directly help with the cost of veterinary treatment, neutering or spaying
Sussex Pet Rescue will not be closing, but will instead be using our resources to support other small Sussex based animal charities to continue all the important work that they do. These charities will be carefully chosen to ensure that their aims and objectives are in keeping with the policies that have guided us for many years in the health, care and rehoming of companion animals across the county.
Since the pandemic and all the changes in people’s lives that resulted from it, we have concentrated on assisting with owner’s veterinary costs and will complete any cases that are already in the system. The rehoming of animals has now been suspended.
We will not be accepting any new applications, but see Finding help with vet’s fees, neutering and spaying for links to organisations who may be of help.
These changes have partly come about due to Jan Meredith retiring later this year, after 36 years with the Charity. It has been a very difficult decision to make, but is necessary for a number of reasons including ill health and commitments of the other Trustees.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us over many years, foster homes, volunteers, fundraisers, behaviourists, vets and all those wonderful people who opened their homes and hearts to take on an animal in need, without whom our story wouldn’t exist.
Your continued support on this new journey will mean that the help we can give to the animals can continue into the future.
