We are very sad to announce the death of retired trustee Christine Thornton-Clough on Monday 23rd March. She died peacefully at the nursing home in which she was living, following long standing multiple health issues. Chris joined Sussex Pet Rescue over 23 years ago after retirement from University life and helped countless dogs to find new forever homes. Many of the adopting families became long term friends. Chris tried to foster five dogs but every time she couldn’t give them up and ended up keeping them, such was her love of dogs of all shapes and sizes. She produced the newsletter for years, full of interesting stories about SPR dogs, useful information and witty anecdotes. She retired from the charity in 2023 when her health began to fail. She will be much missed.
